WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?

Acupuncture is a therapeutic practice that has been used for thousands of years to support health and wellness.
The treatment involves inserting ultra-thin sterile needles into precise acupuncture points on the body. These points influence the body’s energy flow, often referred to as Qi (chi), and help regulate physical systems.
Modern research suggests acupuncture may help:
  • Reduce pain and inflammation
  • Improve circulation
  • Support nervous system regulation
  • Promote relaxation and stress relief
  • Encourage the body’s natural healing response
Many patients in the Niagara Region turn to acupuncture as a natural alternative or complement to conventional healthcare.

SPECIAL INTERESTS IN

Acupuncture for Fertility

If you are trying to get pregnant, or struggling with an irregular menstrual cycle, acupuncture can help you. We will meet with you to discuss your individual situation and provide professional medical recommendations, but generally we recommend 1-2 acupuncture treatments per week for 3 cycles. This provides a variety of benefits, including enhancing the uterine lining, increasing egg and sperm quality, and maintaining overall hormonal balance.

Prenatal Care

Acupuncture can be very helpful during your pregnancy.  It can be beneficial for those who are pregnant and looking for natural ways to maintain their baby’s health until they deliver.  The most common uses of acupuncture during pregnancy include soothing aches and pains associated with pregnancy, helping to turn a breech baby, labour preparation and natural induction for overdue babies.

Acupuncture for Back Pain

Back pain is one of the most common types of chronic pain that affects people, regardless of age, gender, or demographic. As a result, back pain is one of the most prominent reasons that people come to us for acupuncture services. Acupuncture for back pain is a common natural solution that many people turn to in order to allow the body to naturally heal and relieve pain. By stimulating the nervous system, the pain that you are feeling in your back can be substantially relieved.

Acupuncture and Emotions

Emotions can play a significant role in the diagnostic process within Traditional Chinese Medicine. In fact, Chinese Medicine teaches us that the number one cause of internal dis-ease is caused by emotions. Acupuncture can aid in the movement of stuck emotions and invoke a sense of wellbeing.

 Digestion & Gut Health

Traditional Chinese Medicine holds the stomach, gut and intestinal tract in high regard for overall health. Any disruption to this system can lead to other health issues if not treated. Bloating? Diarrhea? Belching? Constipation? Acupuncture and lifestyle recommendations can assist in alleviating gut issues.

Acupuncture for Injuries & Pain

Acupuncture is a tool for pain management and injury recovery. In addition to other services, Acupuncture can help speed up the recovery phase by moving stagnation and initiating the body’s true healing process. Joint pain & stiffness, sciatica, backache, numbness and tingling are some of the many pains that may be eased with Acupuncture.
